What used to be the Upper Eat Side – a delicious creative restaurant in the hidden Obere-Au (Upper East of Munich) revisiting traditional Bavarian cuisine with a modern flair – is now Der Dantler. The difference? Well hard to be noticed but according to their owners, they now present a New York style Deli Bavarian style (why not keep the name then?).
What’s behind this concept? Well mackerel served in a hot dog bun with pickled onions or tempura of mushrooms for instance. To be honest whatever the name, or the concept, the kitchen is delicious and holds a high standard. Fresh local products from Bavaria cooked in a modern and light way, and which in the end makes beautiful dishes! On top of it, a very interesting and mostly Austrian wine selection will be proposed to you with the good advice of your waiter. You will not be disappointed.
For diner the restaurant offers a very decent 30€ with which you get 4 small portions of your choice. Taken individually portions cost around 8€.
On Fridays, the place serves a “surprise menu” for 70€ (drinks not included except water)
Another proof Der Dantler does not more of a reputation: they can allow to close the whole weekend and only reopen on Tuesday for lunch… better make a reservation!
Good to know: Der Dantler it’s also a shop where you can by nice culinary products such as olive oil or chocolate, and of course wine.
